Construction News Specialist Awards

2022 has been a successful year for the Clarison Group, winning five awards to date. Alucraft in Ireland took home two titles from separate industry events, Alucraft Systems in the UK took home two titles from the Schüco Excellence Awards, and The Clarison Group won at the 2022 Specialist Awards.

We were thrilled to have won the Envelope Specialist of the Year award at the 2022 Specialist Awards on Thursday, 22nd September.

The ceremony recognised twenty-one categories at the prestigious event in London, with over sixty expert judges on the panel comprising major contractors and industry figures from companies such as Lendlease, Mace, BAM, Glencar, Wates, Kier and many more.

The rigorous judging process included an online submission, with shortlisted companies proceeding to the live presentation stage, where our CEO and Head of Business Improvement presented to the judging panel.

During our live presentation, we set out our differentiators from the competition, our clear purpose and strategy, our strong ESG focus and our commitment to engagement in innovation and process improvement.

The judges commented:

“The winners demonstrated a strong purpose of the business and a passion for what they do. Their focus on sustainability was clear, and their commitment to innovation and improvement shone through. Both the presentation and the written entry covered all the judging criteria clearly and concisely. The judges were impressed the winners are a Construct Zero Business partner and had a dedicated improvement function.”

Colin Marrs, editor of Construction News, said:

“The CN Specialist Awards is always a very special occasion and this year’s event was no exception. At a time of economic uncertainty for subcontractors, it feels more vital than ever to celebrate the incredible work the industry does.

“The entries for this year’s award revealed inspiring stories of innovation, effort and efficiency that bear testament to the industry’s continuing adaption to ever-changing circumstances. It was amazing to see so many recognised and a shame that not every shortlisted entry could win.

“Subcontractors are currently operating under intense pressures. That’s why it is so important to support each other through difficult times. By showcasing the achievements of the industry, I hope Construction News can help boost the confidence of an industry without which there can be no return to economic normality.”

Schuco Excellence Awards

In July, Alucraft Systems won the ‘Education, Health and Leisure’ award and the ‘Overall Winner’ award at this year’s Schüco Excellence Awards. The awards, in association with Architecture Today, recognise exceptional projects completed with Schüco systems all over the UK and Ireland.

Designed by Níall McLaughlin Architects, the Master’s Field Development for Balliol College, University of Oxford, comprises 225 furnished ensuite study bedrooms arranged across eight new buildings and supported by ancillary facilities, as well as a new sports pavilion.

This project wowed the judges with its contextual sensitivity, technical prowess, build quality and beauty. They were also impressed by the highly considered and crisp façade detailing employed throughout the scheme.

John Foster, CCO of Clarison UK, commented:

“I am delighted to announce that Alucraft Systems are a double award winner at this year’s Schüco Excellence Awards for Design and Innovation. The competition was very high this year, so being the “Overall Winner” of the event was especially rewarding. Alucraft Systems have come a long way in recent years, from being a company known for delivering commercial projects of average size and complexity to now delivering some of the largest and high-profile projects in the UK. I am truly proud of our team’s achievements, not only for their efforts in the Master’s Field Development but in the development of Alucraft Systems to where it is today. I look forward to seeing the continued growth of the business and of the people who are helping us to get there. Well done, everyone.”

Irish Construction Industry Awards 2022

In May, Alucraft in Dublin won ‘Sub-Contractor of the Year – Large’ at the 2021 Irish Construction Industry Awards.

The judges commented that Alucraft came across as titans in the Irish market and described the types of projects they have completed as the bar others need to reach. They also commented that Alucraft were particularly impressive with their use of technology and investment in the future through effective staff training.

We were also delighted to see our project, the National Rehabilitation Hospital, take home two trophies, one for Health Project of the Year and the night’s biggest accolade, Construction Project of the Year.

Alucraft also took home the ‘Specialist Contract Over €1m’ at this year’s Irish Construction Excellence Awards for Spencer Place.

Spencer Place was the most extensive façade package undertaken in Irish history by a single façade contractor and one of Alucraft’s proudest achievements. They have delivered 24,000m2 of architectural glazing on this Grade A workspace for Ronan Group Real Estate and the end-user, Salesforce.

Congratulations to John Paul Construction, who won the “Education or Healthcare Over €50m” category for The National Rehabilitation Hospital. Alucraft, appointed by John Paul Construction, designed, manufactured, and installed the entire facade package on this state-of-the-art facility.

Mark Oliver, CEO of The Clarison Group, commented:

“I am delighted that our businesses have won prestigious industry awards in Ireland and the UK just over a year after launching the Clarison Group. These awards reinforce the feedback we are getting from our clients where successful project outcomes have led to multiple repeat business opportunities”.
